Wife Has Overruled

Originally, I was going to do a complete custom furniture job in order to save some money and make a wild-looking pontoon boat.

My wife has decided against that.

Here is what I will be doing now from pontoonstuff.com.

Will update soon when I finish getting my rails painted and put back on!

The Deck is Finished!!!

I was able to convince my buddy to help me carry my new marine lumber down to my pontoon frame this weekend.

We spent all day placing the rail foam tape, laying out the wood, measuring, clamping, drilling, and bolting.

Once the wood work was complete, we laid out the vinyl flooring, leaving some extra all around.

We clamped in the middle and pulled one half back, spread the deck glue, and rolled the floor covering back over, smoothing with a push broom.

We repeated the process with the other half of the floor covering.

If you're curious, I used a great decking kit from pontoonstuff.com shown below.

Rail Work

The weather has been nice, so it's time to get this done!

I set all my rails in my driveway and borrowed my friend's pressure washer to clean the rails really good before painting.

An added benefit to this was that the paint was so old, the power washer blew off much of the old paint!

Another added bonus was I decided just for the heck of it to see if the old teak table would look better from pressure washing.

Well, it does!

I am going to buy some teak oil to make it really nice soon.

Ideas While I'm Waiting

While I've been recovering from surgery and waiting for it to STOP RAINING, I thought I would share a few of my ideas I have collected that I want to use on my pontoon.

For my seating, I want to make the following for my captain's chair and the two regular chairs that I showed in my first couple posts.

I have found many great ideas on Instructables and Pinterest ect.

For the bar area, I am planning on something similar to the following for the bar itself and the 4 bar stools.

As for the sink area, I am coming up with a nicer version of this foot pump camp sink.

I will work out how I want to do the grill later.

For the loungers/changing room/toilet, I am looking at creating a PVC version of the following.

I like this emergency style toilet to put under one of the loungers and I found this neat toilet paper roll idea to keep it dry.

For many of my PVC ideas, there are TONS of sites out there of people who create things with PVC. The possibilities are endless. One of the Instructables I found that was interesting is below.

Finally, as far as lighting goes, there will be MANY LED lights. The picture below shows an idea for the foot rests for the bar stools.

Even though I am an electrical engineer, I have looked up many valuable boat wiring resources online. You just have to Google it.

Until next time!

Rented My Slip

Since I'm not using my dock until next year, I decided to rent out my slip for the Summer and Fall.

Hey, some extra cash never hurts!
